The basic requirements to get an Iowa real estate license are simple. Do you meet all of these requirements?
Note: You may be asked questions about your citizenship status on the application, but you are NOT required to be a US citizen in order to get a real estate license in Iowa.
A real estate license is required for most real estate jobs. Iowa requires 60 hours of pre-licensing courses before you can apply for a real estate license.
You can apply to take the Iowa real estate exam after you have completed the licensing education requirements.
PSI Examination Services is the testing agency for the State of Iowa. They manage the exam process through their facilities. The Iowa real estate exam fee is $95.
The application will ask you some basic questions about you and your background, including any other real estate licenses you have held or currently hold. The Iowa license application fee is $125.
You must complete a background check that is submitted with your application. The cost of the background check is $51 and it must be completed within the 210 days preceding your application.
Your signature on the Iowa real estate license application must be notarized. Don’t forget this step!
You must also submit proof of errors and omissions insurance, and find a sponsoring broker before your license can be activated.
