Step 1: Make sure you meet the basic requirements

The basic requirements to get an Illinois real estate license are simple. Do you meet all of these requirements?

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must pass the Illinois real estate exam
  • You are a US citizen or legal resident alien
  • You have a Social Security number and the right to work in the US

Step 2: Register for real estate licensing classes

 

A real estate license is required for most real estate jobs. Illinois has educational requirements you must fulfill before they will let you get a real estate license, which are completed with the following:

  • A 75 hour pre-licensing course, OR

Step 3: Apply to take the Illinois real estate exam

Step 4: Complete the Illinois real estate license application
