The basic requirements to get a New York real estate license are simple. Do you meet these requirements?
A real estate license is required for most real estate jobs. New York requires 75 hours of pre-licensing education before they will let you get a real estate license.
Licensed attorneys can skip the pre-licensing education and complete the application to fast-track their license.
New York has a reciprocal license agreement with the following states: Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, West Virginia. Licensees in good standing from those states only need to complete the application and pay the fee.
You can apply to take the New York real estate exam after you have completed the licensing education requirements. The New York real estate exam fee is $15.
The application will ask you some basic questions about you and your background, including any other real estate licenses you have held or currently hold. The New York license application fee is $55.
